Let me first explain that
1. I am still new to sewing. I purchased my 1st
sewing machine over the summer at a garage sale,
and as always I do not follow the directions for
that either so learning my machine has been a challenge as well.
2. I do NOT use patterns, I personally hate using them and
find them more confusing then designing things myself.
and
3. Most of the time I have no idea what I am doing until I am doing it.
These little birds were VERY easy and I made both within 10mins. Originaly I had planned for both of them to be owls.....not sure what happened to the blue and yellow one lol. We have decided he is now a penguin. My boys and also dog LOVE these little guys <3
I call him Number 6. He was my sixth project this summer and I failed at my original plan for him. He was SUPPOSED to be a LOT smaller and he lost a leg shortly after his completion... poor guy.
This is a "Tree-house" indoor tent. Was a pain in the butt to make and since I tried to hide the fact that I was making this, from my now 4yr old son, it took me two weeks to complete. If you try to do something like this, my advice is don't even try to hide this from a kid UNLESS you have a sewing room and your child actually respects your stuff and stays out of it. Brian is a curious child and always finds himself in my sewing stuff.
I decided to over do things with the tent as I ALWAYS do and made a personalized blanket, fuzzy rug, and a pillow that all matched my son's new tent. All though he loved everything none of it stayed with the tent.

Now before we move to the next picture, I just want to say that this was a very bad idea on my part. Brian decided for his 4th birthday party he wanted a Monster Party! Exciting I know and first thing that goes through my mind is...I can make cool party favors for everyone to take home instead of tons of sweets. Of course I deliberated with my mom for more ideas. I had two months till the date of the party. Then Brian decided he wanted to dress like a monster so now on top of deciding what party favors to make in BULK, I now have a costume to make...YAY!!
Now this is the result of 2 months of at least 5 hours of work each day, and about a week total of days i took a break. Lets just say was not pleasant to be around and I give my hubby props for dealing with me through all of it.
I tried but failed in making it look like a monster, He wore this costume on Halloween as well and everyone was calling him a dragon or dinosaur. As long as he liked it and had fun i didn't care.
It turned out to be a lot warmer out then we anticipated since it had rained everyday for 2 weeks before the party so we honestly expected to be rained out or it be a bit chilly. Of course this didn't happen, it decided to be in the high 70s that day, so he wore this for only a short period of time.
Ready for the party favors????
It still gives me flash backs when I see the picture!!!
NEVER AGAIN!!
Each of these were individually designed and all of them "Had to be unique" and of course I hand sewed each face on. Silly me didn't think of sewing the face on til after the front and back of the monsters were sewn together, so I only had a tiny little hole to sew through. The most depressing part was that half of the people that put in their RSVP did NOT come at all so I had tons of these little guys left over... At this point I was upset that I made as many as i did. GRRR...NEVER AGAIN!! I don't mind making these. I just hated having so many to do, in such a short time.
So that is just a few things I have made.
More to come...
So what do you think??

First I shall apologise for the whole idea of "Monster Party" and second for encouraging you to make all those favours. I know, as we were together on Skype through most of it how much work you put it.
ReplyDeleteAs for those leftovers ... well I'd buy one! Sell them or keep them as pressies for xmas, birthdays, last minute gifts or just as "I love you" gifts for the boys ... that is if they haven't laid claim to them already!!!
Mummy xoxoxo
Whelp... I ended up giving all the "girly" ones that were left to my friend Josh's daughter Rylie, My brother in-law Daniel and his friend begged for a few extra ones (not that they needed to beg lol) and Brian claimed the rest lol. No apologies needed lol everyone loved them ^_^
